Bye, bye August and hello September! I can’t be the only one who is happy that summer is (slowly) on its way out to make way for beautiful fall. While we’re still waiting on cooler weather, bonfires, hot cocoa, and pumpkin spice everything, check out my favorites in fashion, beauty, books, food, and memories from August 2016 below!
Felt Rancher Hat
Usually felt hats are a fall thing, but lately I’ve been wearing this one from Target despite the lingering heat of summer. A neutral hat is the perfect topper (literally) for any outfit that needs that extra little oomph. This type of hat is a buy now, wear now, and wear in the fall and winter. Just do it.
Henri Bendel Uptown Tote
Every girl needs a classic black bag, and the Uptown Tote from Henri Bendel is the one I’ve been dreaming of. This structured tote features pebbled leather, gold hardware, and a removable shoulder strap. I initially bought the bag for our trip in April to Washington DC, knowing I would need a large but chic bag to carry everything I needed for a whole day. The one thing I will say is that it’s larger than it looks! I can fit a very full wallet, small cosmetic bag, phone, and Nook with case inside without any trouble. The hardware on the front of the bag is adjustable to tighten or loosen both sides of the bag for extra room when you need it.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Beetroot
It seems like my longing for fall is coming through again in my choice of lipstick for August. You may have read my review of Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche lipstick a few months ago. The shade Beetroot has adorned my lips quite a bit, of late. The creamy, organic formula ensures my lips won’t dry out throughout the day, which makes it perfect for a the upcoming seasons.
Needless to say, purchasing this was a no-brainer. Harry Potter was a major, major part of my childhood (and adulthood). My mom and I read every word of every book aloud, went to three midnight book premieres, and saw every movie in theaters at least three times each. In fact, we saw Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone six times in theaters. Since the actual play is sold out for the next year or so in London, I’ll have to make do with reading the screenplay. I will say that I haven’t finished it…yet. My mom has and said it was interesting and she loved it. I will say that it’s different and so far I like it. Stay tuned for my thoughts when I hit the last page!
Cheese, Bread, and Lots of Wine
Forget salads for dinner. For the past month, I’ve been nibbling on a variety of breads, cheeses, and wines. Dining on artisan cheeses and bakery breads doesn’t have to be expensive. Got to your local market’s bakery and diary section and pick up a few cheese you like and a freshly baked loaf of bread. My favorite cheeses include mozzarella, feta, and gouda.
And, of course, you need to top off your hors d’oeuvres with wine. My all-time favorite wine is definitely the Chateau St Michelle Riesling. Delicious, sweet, and affordable. The wine shown in the picture above is the Sutter Home White Zinfandel, also a beautiful and affordable wine. When it comes to champagne, however, I like to spend a little more. My boyfriend and I have come to love Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut and the Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut on special occasions.

If you haven’t heard already, I was given the amazing opportunity of hosting a segment on Good Morning Arkansas for the second time! The whole experience was easier this time around and I was thrilled to be back. In this segment, I reviewed the best products to protect curly hair during the summer. The segment hasn’t been posted online just yet, but see the outfit I wore and the fun products I reviewed here!
