Good morning, honeys! I’m warning you now that is post is going to be a doozy. There’s just so much to cover! I want to introduce y’all to an amazing in-home custom teeth-whitening system that I’ve loved recently by the company Smile Brilliant. The System

Let me preface this post by saying this isn’t my first tango with custom teeth whitening systems. Earlier this year, I had custom trays made through my local dentist. The whole experience was harmless and relatively easy, but it was lacking one thing: convenience. I had to leave my office to drive across town to sit in a waiting room before finally having my impressions made (a very messy experience!). Then I waited a full week for my trays to be made so I could leave my office (again) to pick them up with two syringes of whitening gel. The price of the entire system was only about $20 more than the Smile Brilliant system and the people who work at my dentist’s office are simply wonderful, but I need just a tad more convenience in my life.

Enter Smile Brilliant! The concept of Smile Brilliant is almost exactly that of going through a dentist for a custom teeth whitening system; except you can do everything from the comfort of your fuzzy pajamas.

How It Works

Making & Sending Off Your Impressions

Making your teeth impressions is easier than it looks. The kit you order comes with everything you’ll need to make the impressions: three catalyst material jars, three base material jars, upper and lower molds, and step by step instructions (with photos!) to effortlessly guide you through the process. You should only need two each of the catalyst and base material jars, but they include a third just in case of a mishap!

I will say this: read all instructions before you start. Timing is essential in this step because you don’t want the material to harden before you’ve even made your impressions!

Mix one jar of catalyst material (white) and one jar of base material (blue) together by folding them together in your hands until you can’t see any more white. Then quickly form the mixed material into one of the blue molds provided in your kit. Apply the mold with the material to either your upper or lower set of teeth and hold firmly for two and a half mintues. After time is up, gently remove the mold by pulling straight down. No wiggling! Let the mold set for half an hour then rinse under cool water. Repeat for the other set of teeth!

After both sets of molds are complete, place them carefully in the pre-paid label package included in your kit and mail it out. Then all you have to do is wait! You will be notified by email when Smile Brilliant’s lab receives your molds and when your custom trays are on their way to you.

 

Using the System

Using Smile Brilliant is pretty straight forward. Open one of your Teeth Whitening Gel syringes and gently break off the cap (and save it for storing your syringe!). Slowly line the front of both of your trays with a thin line of the gel. Then slip the trays over your teeth and start whitening. You can whiten anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours a day.  I suggest you set a timer each time you begin a session.  Once your timer goes off, you’re done! Now, let’s move on to the second part of the system: dealing with tooth sensitivity.

Tooth Sensitivity

I have heard so many horror stories of people burning their gums and damaging their teeth by improperly whitening their teeth at home. It’s a very real fear! My teeth have always been very healthy. Yay for no cavities! Tooth sensitivity is also a problem I never had to deal with….until I used the whitening system from my dentist. Weird, right? Apply the Desensitizing Gel just as you did the Teeth Whitening Gel. Leave your trays in for 15-20 minutes then remove. Boom. No pain. The only drawback is that you can’t eat or drink anything for 30 minutes using the Desensitizing Gel, but it’s a small price to pay to be pain free the next day, agreed?

The Results

After using Smile Brilliant for one week (I skipped about one day due to being too busy and wanting to give my teeth a rest), I can’t believe how thrilled I am with how white they are! I honestly started noticing a difference after day one. By the time I made it to the end of the week, I was floored by how much my teeth had changed. I’ll continue to use the Smile Brilliant system on and off to maintain my newly whitened teeth!
