There’s nothing I love more than spoiling my boyfriend. So when the opportunity arose to surprise him with a beautifully-decorated, home-cooked dinner, I jumped at it! Colton has worked so hard the past few months and spoiled me rotten. It’s about time I did something for him.
I cooked basil chicken from a recipe in my church’s cookbook (chicken breasts rolled with goat cheese and basil leaves and marinated in white wine), butter and herb pasta, and the incredibly delicious Red Lobster biscuits (yes, you can now buy the boxed mix in the grocery store!), and a three layer rainbow cake…from scratch. I’ve never baked a cake from scratch, nor have I cooked a full meal from scratch (not counting the biscuits) so it was an adventure that might have tasted horrible…but Colton insists it was delicious. So I give in. I poured Chateau St. Michelle Riesling while I cooked and popped open a bottle Veuve Cliquot Brut while we indulged in our meal.
The forecast called for on-again, off-again rain so I pulled the patio table and chairs under the car port and hung string lights from the ceiling. I set the table using Lilly Pulitzer for Target napkins in Nosie Posey as the place mats and the matching saucer plates as the bread plates. The napkins I used were embroidered by my late grandmother. The centerpiece included all the Lilly for Target candle holders I own, a fresh pineapple, and a beautiful bouquet of roses and carnations.
Overall, Colton loved it! He was very surprised and had no idea that I had been planning this for weeks. Sure, it’s amazing to be spoiled by your man, but don’t forget to spoil him every once in a while, too.
