Something totally new has just landed on Chic Little Honey. Several weeks ago, I was contacted by William Laurence of William Laurence Designer Photography to create a fashion editorial series together. The idea intrigued me since most of the shoots I do for my posts are created by a simple formula: style an outfit, choose a location, shoot full body and detail shots, edit, and post. William’s approach to photoshoots is quite different.
First, I completed a questionnaire detailing how I view my personality, what makes me happy, and my hobbies. William took a couple of days to review the information and we lined out what we wanted the shoot to look like over a consultation phone call. His vision took my breath away. What stood out to him in my questionnaire was my love for reading, writing, travel, and adventure.
The fashion editorial begins with my passion for reading and writing. Thanks to my parents, I’ve been reading from a very young age. I’ve read almost everything Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Edgar Allan Poe, C.S. Lewis, Ted Dekker, JK Rowling, and Dan Brown have written. Eventually, my love for reading grew into creative writing, which eventually turned into my career of Professional Writing.
Below is the first post in our editorial series. Come back throughout the week to see two more posts we created together!
Top: fab’rik Jonesboro | Jeans: Gray Monroe | Shoes: Pink Avenue | Bag: Danielle Nicole x Disney | Necklace: Sophie Harper from Rocksbox | Rings: Gorjana | Earrings: Gorjana
Book: Immanuel’s Veins by Ted Dekker
Before I dive into the outfit, I have to let y’all know I experienced a fashion blogger’s worst nightmare…
I forgot all of my clothes for the shoot.
All of my clothes, save my jeans and shoes, were three hours away in my bedroom in my house. Enter fab’rik to the rescue! To jog your memory, I hosted a shopping event at fab’rik in Jonesboro, Arkansas in June (see the post here). When I realized my mistake, I called fab’rik and they allowed me to borrow pieces for the shoot! A big thank you to the owner, Allison, and all the lovely ladies who work there for saving my butt!
If you haven’t noticed, velvet is the fabric of the season. Be prepared to see it everywhere: on shirts, dresses, bags, pants, and shoes. This velvet pocket tee from fab’rik embodied the indulgent texture William and I wanted for the beginning of our shoot. The fit is boxy and relaxed, making it perfect for curling up on the couch to read.
I added my new favorite pair of jeans to the outfit for an even more relaxed feel. The unfinished hem adds interest and leads the eye down to those adorable rose gold mules. The insoles and heels of the mules are completely made up of soft faux fur. Yes, please!
To finish off the look, I carried a bag from Danielle Nicole’s Beauty and the Beast collaboration with Disney. The bag is designed to look like the fairytale book and is embroidered with flowers and a candelabra. It can be carried as a clutch or a shoulder bag. Simple gold jewelry like my matching Gorjana crawler earrings and stackable rings complete the look.
And did you spot my Sophie Harper fortune cookie necklace? The adorable little necklace is part of my latest box from Rocksbox. Check out Rocksbox and use the code CHICLITTLEHONEYXOXO for your first month of jewelry free!
