So Christmas and NYE have come and gone. The toasts were made, the photos uploaded into a perfectly curated Facebook album, and now that gorgeous (and probably expensive) sequin dress is hanging in your closet with nowhere to be worn. Trust me when I say I know the struggle.
That is why I’m introducing two new posts on how to re-purpose your holiday sequin pieces without a holiday to celebrate! First up, we have the sequin blazer. See how I styled the piece for any occasion below!
Blazer: BB Dakota (similar) | Tee: H&M | Jeans: Jessica Simpson | Shoes: Michael Kors | Earrings: Kate Spade | Necklace: Kendra Scott via Rocksbox (use code CHICLITTLEHONEYXOXO for your first month of Rocksbox free!)
Sequined items are probably the hardest to style and wear for every occasion because they directly correlate with holidays like New Year’s Eve, where everything is sparkling and blinged out to the max. I love a good sequin number, but I know what it’s like purchasing a piece for a one-night event then struggling to find an appropriate venue or event to it to for the rest of the year.
Enter this mini series where I show you it doesn’t have to be hard! The sequin blazer is my first example. A blazer is a versatile essential for any wardrobe. I can layer this blazer, sequined or not, over a tee, a camisole, a sweater, or a frilly blouse. I can wear it with a dress, a skirt, slacks, or jeans.
With this outfit, the main idea was to play down the sequins with pieces that you wouldn’t normally wear with gold sequins. I layered the blazer over a slouchy v-neck tee and threw on light-wash denim jeans for daytime wear. Light wash = day wear while dark wash = night wear. Simple, right?
To slightly dress up the outfit, I wore simple nude heels and added a tasseled necklace for a little extra, low-key bling. However, if you wanted to continue with playing down the sequins, swap the heels for sneakers and the tassel necklace for a dainty one.
Gorgeous! I will definitely be keeping your tips in mind next time I wear my sequin blazer!
