Lace Up Sweater Trend

Am I too late to jump on the lace up sweater trend?  Oh well.  When this trend first appeared on the fashion scene, I was highly skeptical.  See how I tried out the trend and read my thoughts below!

Sweater: Abercrombie & Fitch (similar) | Jeans: DKNY | Bag: Lauren Ralph Lauren | Sunglasses: J.Crew Factory | Shoes: Jessica Simpson

I picked up this sweater from Abercrombie & Fitch a while ago, but I’m just now taking it out for a spin.  I have to say that I don’t hate it.  The sweater is soft and cozy, perfect for cold weather.  The grommets and lace up detail add a subtle hint of interest that doesn’t overpower the outfit as a whole.

My original fear in wearing this kind of top was that the laces would loosen throughout the day and accidentally expose cleavage.  It does happen if I don’t keep an eye on the laces, but I’ve found that I fiddle with the strings so much during the day that I unintentionally tighten them.  So the jury is still out on that problem.

Overall, the lace up trend is a fun new spin on v-neck sweaters.  Just as long as there aren’t any wardrobe malfunctions!

Want to see some more lace up sweaters?  My top three picks include this one from Macy’s (under $70), this one from Lord and Taylor (under $80), and this one from Shoptiques (under $45)!
