The Alexander McQueen skull scarf is a cult classic in the fashion world.  Every It Girl sports her skull scarf in new and creative ways each season and I’ve always wanted to be one of them.

Alexander McQueen’s dark life inspired beautiful clothes and accessories that have captivated the world since he stepped out in the 1980’s.  I’ve been in love with McQueen’s work for years, but I never thought I would be able to own his designs.  That changed when my incredible boyfriend gave me a McQueen gown for my birthday.  It’s only the second gift I’ve ever cried over (the first was an autographed copy of a book written by one of my favorite archeologists).

Flash forward a few months to a shopping weekend getaway in Dallas when I finally made my move on my heart’s desire: McQueen’s skull scarf.  See all the outfit details below!

Shopping trips can be overwhelming, especially when you’re mall hopping.  While in Dallas for the weekend, my boyfriend and I covered some serious ground.  Saturday included a blowout at Blo Blow Dry Bar, macaron munching at Bisous Bisous Patisserie, and shopping at Highland Park Village, Northpark, and the Galleria Dallas.  I needed a simple yet stylish outfit that would get me through the exhausting sport that is shopping.

I started with high-waisted, dark wash skinny jeans.  I’m not a huge fan of high-waisted jeans, but they were the only clean pair I could find when I was packing for the trip!  I then layered a silk camisole under a faux leather jacket to shield me from the freezing air conditioning of the malls.  A simple pair of nude d’Orsay heels  and a black hat topped off the outfit nicely.

Then, of course, I had to add my brand new, beautiful Alexander McQueen silk chiffon skull scarf.  It was the only accessory I needed to elevate the outfit from simple to stylish.  Have I mentioned how in love with it I am?  It’s beautiful.
