Romwe Floral Fit & Flare Dress Review

A fit and flare dress is my absolute favorite dress silhouette.  It’s universally flattering and never fails to make my legs look longer than they actually are!  The floral accents of this particular dress from online retailer Romwe made me swoon from the first moment I saw it online.  See the full outfit and my honest opinion on the dress and the company below!

Dress Review

Floral accents are a perfect way to bring summer into fall!  From the moment I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it.  I pictured dressing it up with pumps and pearls, and dressing it down with sneakers and leather.  As I mentioned above, the fit and flare dress style is my go-to.  Pro tip: Fit and flare dresses are perfect for shorter people because they elongate the legs by creating a higher waistline.  Yass girl.

Something I didn’t really notice in the picture of the dress on the website is that the white material has gorgeous  jacquard detailing, which I love!  However, the material is thin and unlined.  I’m not too surprised or upset by that (see below).  The flower detail on the dress I received is identical to the dress in the picture.  I wish the flower detail encircled the entire top half of the dress, but I’m not being too picky.

My only disappointment in the dress is that when I opened it, I immediately noticed several large strings coming out of the inside of the dress.  The zipper hem had a chunk of material coming off it that I had to cut off.  I didn’t expect super high quality from a dress that only costs $11, but I did expect the dress to at least be finished and not falling apart!

Company Review

I was asked by Romwe to choose something from their website to review on my blog.  I had never ordered from them, although I had heard their name quite often on Instagram and Facebook, so I decided to give it a go.  My hesitation stems not from the gorgeous clothing they sell on their website, but from where the company originates.  Chinese online clothing retailers are notorious for not being reliable in areas such as product quality and following though with orders.

What to expect

I had previously read countless online reviews of this and other Chinese online retailers and I honestly think most of the outrage stems from unrealistic expectations of the companies.  Keep in mind that you get what you pay for.  If you pay $8 for a dress, you’re not going to get Ann Taylor quality.  If you order something from China and live in Oregon, the package will most likely take anywhere from three to five weeks to reach you, no matter what the “guaranteed” delivery on the website says.

Delivery Time

Delivery time wasn’t an issue for me.  I knew a package coming from China to Arkansas, USA was going to take quite a while.  I was provided with a tracking number, but I couldn’t follow it considering the blogger rep made the order and not me through my own account (you have to log into your account to follow the tracking and I didn’t have an account).  From the time my order was placed through the blogger rep to the time the package arrived on my front door, a total of nine days had passed.  I expected longer, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Product Quality

My completely honest opinion is that the dress isn’t bad at all.  The fit is excellent and it’s adorable.  I love the colors and the jacquard, even if the material is thin and unlined.  Honestly, the quality is no worse than what you would buy at Wet Seal or Rue 21.  I’ve even seen some items from Forever 21 fall apart after only a few wears.  The clothing from all three stores and Romwe are all made in China, but the difference is that Wet Seal, Rue 21, and Forever 21 are more convenient and easier to buy from because they’re local.

Final Thoughts

If you see a dress that you absolutely cannot live without on Romwe, be realistic in your expectations when you place the order.  Don’t think you will have that dress in time for your cousin’s wedding in three weeks and don’t expect high quality items at such a low cost. For me, I’m happy with the dress. The strings were taken care of with a good pair of scissors and even some of my Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade dresses are unlined so that doesn’t bother me.  (Pro tip: If you really want lining in a dress, find a good local tailor who can do it for you or where a slip.)

  1. I had both good and bad experiences with Romwe. I’ve lucked out with SheIn and generally always loved what I’ve gotten. You really do just have to keep in mind you get what you pay for. This dress looks so flattering on you!
