Summer activities can be pretty hazardous to your skin. The sweltering sun and immense amount of bug bites wreak havoc on the skin we strive to protect. While I’m on the lake and playing golf this summer, Smart Stuff’s Pure Mineral Based Sunscreen and Insect Repellant are my go-to’s.
Smart Stuff products are natural, mineral based suncreens, repellents, and skincare treatments that are effective without using harsh chemicals that not only may damage your skin, but make other products uncomfortable to wear.
The one thing to remember about the Smart Stuff Mineral Based SPF 30 sunscreen is that a little goes a long way. One dot on the palm of your hand will cover one whole leg! The sunscreen is supposed to be water-resistant up to 40 minutes (I didn’t get in the water to test this out), and is biodegradable and reef safe. I wore the sunscreen while fishing on the lake for Memorial Day weekend and I didn’t get sunburnt. The sunscreen took a little more effort to rub into my skin, but after I did, I couldn’t tell it was there. Buy the sunscreen here.
I don’t think I’ve fallen in love with any product as much as I have with the Smart Stuff Natural Insect Repellent. It was literally love at first spray. The website describes the product as having a “refreshing spa-like smell and feel”, and I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree. The spray is light, not weighed down by chemicals, and doesn’t feel tacky or sticky after application. Instead, you’re left with a cool mist and a sharp mint smell. This repellent is made without DEET (a chemical typically used in repellents), parabens, PABA, petroleum, phthalates, or gluten. I used the spray on Saturday while camping and didn’t receive a single bug bite. And trust me as someone who lives in the South, that is something amazing! Buy the insect repellent here.
The price point is slightly higher than mainstream brands, but I think it’s worth it, especially for the repellent. Add both of these Smart Stuff products to your summer essentials now!
